Description

Originally given the status of “Farmers’ language” in medieval times, Frisian is a language that stood the test of scorn and reproach, redeeming itself as a patriotic language tasked with maintaining the culture of the Frisians. It’s spoken by about 500,000 Frisian people, who live on the southern fringes of the North Sea in the Netherlands, Germany, and Denmark.

Frisian is the closest living language group to the English language, and together these two languages are grouped into the Anglo-Frisian languages. However, modern English and Frisian are unintelligible to each other. Learn this amazing language, as to understand Frisians, one must first understand their language.
