The Romanian language has its roots in Latin, and in fact, the name Romania, comes from the Latin word ‘Romanus’ which means ‘citizen of the Roman empire’, a legacy of the Roman Empire who took control of ancient Dacia (today Romania) in 106 A.D. Fun Facts: The infamous Dracula as we know him to be the blood-thirsty villain was actually inspired by Vlad the Impaler of Romania (also known as Vlad Dracula) who is considered to be a national hero of Romania.

The Romanian language is 1700 years old.
